On March 4th 2017, a community of passionate gamers will come together for Play for Planned Parenthood: a 24-hour game-a-thon supporting Planned Parenthood. Through our love of gaming, we plan to raise awareness and funds for an organization that serves people all over the world. As a participant, I hope to make an impact by helping Play4PP reach their $10,000 goal!
Planned Parenthood is one of the nation's largest and most influential providers of affordable healthcare for women. It is absolutely nuts that an organization that does such important work is under attack by congress. As someone who is passionate about women's rights (and The Sims) I'm so excited to participate in Play for Planned Parenthood!
I chose The Sims 4 as my game-of-choice, because it has been my favorite game for the last decade. I could write a dissertation on why The Sims is the greatest PC game of all time. For me, its longevity can be attributed to its capacity for storytelling and world building. It's also important to note that The Sims series has historically been inclusive and progressive. It's also the only game I can see myself playing for 24 hours straight. (Sorry, SimAnt!)
Because The Sims is one of those games with no endgame, I am going to complete a series of "challenges" throughout the 24 hours. Check out the examples below, and please submit your own challenges. Please make them hard. I am very advanced.
